On the devastating floods in Pakistan, the European Parliament debates

Pakistan's disastrous floods:

The humanitarian situation in the wake of Pakistan's disastrous floods was discussed last night during a plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France.

The debate's main objectives were to explore the EU's response to the situation in Pakistan and how to lessen the negative effects of the crisis caused by harsh weather.

Dr. Asad Majeed Khan, the Pakistani ambassador to the European Union, Belgium, and Luxembourg, participated in the special discussion.

Mikulas Bek, the Czech Republic's minister for European affairs, and Janusz Wojciechowski, the EU's commissioner for agriculture, respectively, launched the discussion.

(MEP):

Several MEPs from various political groups in the European Parliament (MEP) took part in the discussion. The MEPs expressed their support for the people of Pakistan and emphasised the need to increase aid and support due to the extraordinary scope of the disaster.

The debate also focused on the disaster's relationship to climate change.

It is important to note that during the final week of September 2022, Ambassador Asad briefed the key DEVE Committee of the European Parliament about the flood situation in Pakistan.
